- 12/23/20241/5Was on the Greenville NC store for some last minute Christmas shopping. There were 2 registers open and a line of about 30 people. To be fair, some of the people on line were together, so it wasn't necessarily 30 individual sales. It took me 40 minutes to get checked out. Partly because there were only 2 cashiers, but also because the cashiers were having to answer questions about product for the customers. If there were associates actually working in the departments then the customers would have been able to find out everything they needed to know before trying to check out and thereby not holding everyone else up. Also, the cashiers were taking time to help people sign up for credit cards. I've worked retail, so I know that's something you do, but when there's only two cashiers and a ridulously long line, maybe a separate station needs to be set up. This is the reason why brick and mortar businesses are failing. This is not good customer service.Response from JC Penney12/23/2024Hello Melanie. The line was out onto the sales floor. On line experience better than store. My JCP card was opened in 1974. I will continue to shop online with great selection and prices. There needs to be separate area for people picking up online orders. Then, after going back to car, I realized I only had half of my order. I had to leave and hate to go back and wait in line again.
